NH SENATE VOTES TO PROTECT PATIENT SAFETY AT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CENTERS
Concord, NH—Today the New Hampshire State Senate issued their support for protecting patient safety and privacy by voting 15-9 to pass SB 319, which would establish a 25-foot Patient Safety Zone around reproductive health facilities that provide abortion care.
Sara Persechino, policy and community relations director for NARAL Pro-Choice New Hampshire, stated the following:
"We are proud of the bipartisan group of state senators who joined together to pass the Patient Safety Zone—and we fully expect the House to do the same.
New Hampshire cannot afford even one act of violence toward a woman and we should not tolerate the current harassment happening outside reproductive health care facilities in our state. This commonsense legislation is a step in the right direction for protecting patients seeking safe, legal abortion care from violence, harassment, and intimidation.”
NARAL Pro-Choice New Hampshire is the state’s largest grassroots organization dedicated solely to reproductive rights, and has been working to protect choice since 1977. Their mission is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices.
